Since the start of this year, my favorite dog/right-hand girl died. I contracted an awful disease that could have been Covid, probably wasn’t, but for sure stole 4 days of my life. We’ve been crazy busy on the ranch. I hit my hand with the hammer dead on and really hard. I so severely burned my lip on microwaved pizza rolls that it blistered. And there’s been a Dr Pepper shortage in our small town…
You’d think 2020 is out to get me. And that’s just the stuff that’s happened to me personally. That doesn’t include the quarantine, the great toilet paper shortage, the murder hornets, or any of the other crazy that’s happened in our world this year. Really, one might argue that 2020 is out to get all of us.
But it’s not.
This year is not out to get me. It’s not out to get you or your neighbor, Joe, down the road. It’s a year. It can’t be out to get us.
But ya know who is out to get us?
The enemy.
Satan is literally out to get us – get us away from God that is. And he’s hard at it.
He’d love nothing more than to see us consumed by darkness and filled with hate. And he’s taking full advantage of everything that’s been thrown at us this year, using every opportunity to turn us from the Light and drive us deep into darkness.
But just like Jesus warned us of the trouble we’d have in this world (John 16:33), He also warned us of the enemy’s agenda to “steal and kill and destroy”. (John 10:10)
And you know what else Jesus said?
He said, “I have come that they may have life, and live it to the full.”
We don’t have to let the enemy steal anymore of our joy, kill anymore of our happiness, or destroy anymore of our days. We’ve got Jesus.
We can lean on Him to put a stop to Satan’s thieving ways, so we can live life to the fullest. And I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for that.
