Cake sirens ring, are you listening?
On the hills, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
Cow’s are happy tonight
Ranchin’ in a winter wonderland
Who doesn’t love a good parody?
Anyway…
This past week was Thanksgiving and we had big plans to travel and be with family. However, our plans were foiled when a winter storm blew into the area dropping several inches of snow, followed by another system that left everything covered in a thick layer of ice then more snow. And wind – lots of wind. But, when the storms passed, it was a winter wonderland for sure.
We had a decent amount of warning, so we got the calves some extra feed and moved the cows into a more protected pasture before the first storm hit. Between storms, we fed both herds a load of hay as well as cake. And we may, or may not, have had a little fun in the snow too!
Oh, who am I kidding? We had fun, all of us – kids, dogs, adults, heck even the horses were running around in the snow.
