Have you ever had God kindly deliver a kick in the pants just exactly when you need it?
I have.
It happened over the weekend. There I was minding my own business at the Cultivating Courage Conference listening to my friend Caitlin speak about going body where God has called, when she said, “Our callings are never just about us.”
Our callings are never just about us…
That one sentence immediately brought tears to my eyes, because for a long time I resisted the call to help others draw good movement out of fear of rocking the boat. Even now that I’ve stepped into it, I can find myself dragging my feet on the regular worried that other humans won’t approve.
When those words came out of Caitlin’s mouth, it wasn’t by accident that I was there in that room. It also wasn’t by accident that the morning after I heard Caitlin speak those words, the Bible app verse of the day I read every morning was Galatians 1:10.
“Am I trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Talk about an “oh hi, hello God – I hear you” moment.
All this to say, the Lord is always with us, talking to us. The question is are we quiet enough to hear Him and go boldy where He’s called, or do we need a kind kick in the pants?
