The calves are officially on their grazing rotation. We took them on their first big move across a pasture and into a fresh one. Each time we move into a new pasture with our calves we always make sure to take them to the tank, so they know where water is.
We also try to exercise the calves on the regular to help keep them happy and healthy. Typically we do this by encouraging them to jog a little. Sometimes that looks like speeding them up on a move (like we did in the video) or leading them up to the top of the hill with the cake truck and having them run down it after their favorite snack (cake). We call that one cannon balling down the hill. It’s actually pretty entertaining to see them enthusiastically running and bucking down the hills.
The hay crew finished up cutting hay a few weeks ago, and since then, Mr. FFB’s been working to get all the hay yarded, a.k.a hauled off the meadows and into the stack yards to be stored until we need it this winter.
One of the stack yards wasn’t quite big enough, so we tore out the back fence to make room for more hay. I’m clearly not a super punch on account of actually getting off my horse to roll up wire. 😉
